Description

From handling a harassment claim to knowing how to classify employees versus independent contractors, this two-hour session will bring your agency up to speed on the employment laws you need to know. In the first half, Attorney Will Larson will provide an overview on protected classes, wrongful discharge, age discrimination, substance abuse, ADA requirements, and wage and hour claims. For the second half of the class, Carole Tozier will provide an overview on typical coverage provided in an Employment Practices Liability policy. Carole will go over the types of EPLI policies available, limits of liability, retention. defense costs and definitions in EPLI that every agency principal needs to understand. Plus, she will explain conditions, supplement payments, common exclusions and negotiated coverage endorsements.

Will Larson Related Seminars and Products


Will Larson is an attorney who has practiced E&O defense work in Kansas for 36 years. Over the course of his career, he has represented insurance companies and agents throughout the state. He is currently defending E&O cases in Northeast Kansas for Swiss Re, and works as a consultant for KAIA on legal and policy issues. Will operates KAIA’s Legal Hotline which provides free advice to KAIA members, conducts E&O audits for agencies, and offers review of carrier contracts for agencies.


Carole Tozier Related Seminars and Products


Carole Tozier began her insurance career working for a regional carrier in college. She also worked for a national broker and several agencies spending a majority of her time in Commercial Lines. Carol worked for IIAK (now KAIA) for nearly 10 years serving as Education Director and CP of Administration and Education. After nearly 40 years, Carole retired from Schifman, Remley & Associates in Mission, KS. While there she managed the Select Business Department, Personal Lines and the Professional Services Department.
